I just installed g2.3 onto a new hosting package from Pair Hosting. I uploaded the 2.3 full install zip and unzipped it in the command line (go me! are you proud of me?). I created a new MySQL database in the Pair control panel. Everytime I try to connect to the database on STEP 5 it says unable to connect , followed by a more detailed error message:

Warning: mysqli_real_connect() [function.mysqli-real-connect]: (HY000/2005): Unknown MySQL server host 'db48a.pair.com ' (1) in /usr/www/users/neilcnd/gallery2/lib/adodb/drivers/adodb-mysqli.inc.php on line 109
Could't connect :
db48a.pair.com : Unknown MySQL server host 'db48a.pair.com ' (1)

I was just on the phone with a tech from Pair who verified that I had the correct DB Host name, DB name, and DB password.

I just don't seem to have good luck with gallery...

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!!!

That's really odd, I've installed G2 dozens of times at Pair.

First I would try a different MySQL option. I'm not sure which one you selected. If you still have problems you can PM me and I can help dig into this further. I'm very familiar and comfortable with Pair's setup and environment having been a customer there for 6-1/2 years :)

Just replied to you (twice). Looks like Pair has resolved what ever was going on.

This is solved thanks to the help of nivekiam and Pair.com's support team.

Thank you!
