Search module problem with permission

We use gallery3 for an internal gallery where no album can be viewed by "everybody" or "registered users" but only by new usergroups.
Now the search module doesn't work for users who are not Admin.
I tested different permission configurations. It turns out that only pictures in albums which can be viewed by "everybody" are found by the search.

I read about the problem in this thread: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/90554 but there is no solution for it.

Has anyone an idea what can be done?

You will need to sign-up for a SF account (free).
It might be a performance issue to check the permissions on each item search word.

I did some testing. If you simply remove the Everybody group from being able to view and requiring people to log in, the search results are empty
