Hide album, images found by search?

Hi, I would like to hide the album, and that pictures can be found only by kewords with the search engine. Because if i set the permissions to hide the element (in the album settings) all the pictures will have the same setting and will be not visible. I can do that giving permission on each picture..but its very long... Thanks |

If you edit permissions on a album, by default it resets the permissions on all items.
What version of Gallery are you using?

i'm using 2.3. I know that and thats the problem.
I want that all pictures have the permission settings to : view all versions. But the album should not have this setting because i want it invisible.
So if I should put the view all versions on the album to have it on all my pictures, but as soon as i remove it from the album, it removes also from the pictures....

You can't have your cake and eat it too, well o.k. in G2 you can, but it's a total pain
That's why we've really simplified things in G3. You can only set permissions on albums and that's it.
In G2, edit permissions and apply them to all sub-items. Then edit permissions again and make sure that the check box to apply to sub-albums/items is UNCHECKED.
Now if you add new items, they will have these restricted permissions and you'll have to do this all over again.

My suggestion, figure out a different way that's not going to require such heavy administration.

I know but its the owner of the website that wants invisible galleries and possibility to find pictures by keywords.... I already told him.... so... I have to have fun..
) hope in G3 there will be a possibility to do that. thanks

It doesn't make any sense to have something hidden and searchable at the same time. G3 does not have this ability. While tags are for hidden items are currently displayed, if you don't have permission to view an item, you can click on a tag and view a blank page, well a page without a photo on it.
I suppose you could create a module that hide stuff, yet still made it searchable. Still seems like a total usability nightmare to me.

You can set the default album and breadcrumb root to a "Public" album while having a "Backend" album that users would not be able to navigate to.
