Does G3 parse directory's names? what about 'spaces'?

I have noticed that i have had some images disappearing and when i look at the URL, album (directory) names with spaces do not have spaces and visa-versa. example: Max Pro Arrays become MaxProArrays. now unless i sleep type or the appz at the other end is doing it and IF G3 ain't doing it I am at a lost.

ideas?

you see i as others do, get lazy with naming guidelines due to MS tolerance with folder and file names, i.e. it don't care if spaces, cap or small letters are used, it gobbles them up! of course UNIX/LINUX does care. so i could image allowing UNIX and MS sleeping together requires some kind of parsing of file names, etc.

this issue will make me rename and reload all my images so i can have confidence in my web site working. i am not saying G3 did it as i do not know. it could be at my end's appz. i am asking to be sure in case i uncovered a bug/weakness.

suggestions? i need a structure for my images and stick to it closely for it to work well at my end.

thanks to all for the help,

Welcome to beta software :)

There was a some what recent change that now disallows spaces and some other characters in URLs. Not in the file name (I believe), but in the URL. If you get a current version of the rescue module and run that it should fix this:

when i click download does that download all the modules? it appears so.

also what and where is the latest G3? is it RC1? i hope so i just installed it, then i noticed RC1??? i thought it would be B3.xxx.

what is the best way to name folders & files: aaaa_bbb_cc no caps or space? is _ allowed still?

what is the atom module about? i use embedlinks and add_server alot.

should i move folders within / or by using G3 album moves? what if i move stuff after the install? is the URL lost? at my web site is it lost?

thanks,
billy

It's "pre-RC1"

Here's the link again to upgrade to the latest experimental code:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Upgrading

There's several ways fields when it comes to naming now.

--Title (the title of the album/photo). This is only displayed on the page and in the title of the browser.
--Filename or Directory name depending on if it's a photo or album. This is the name of the file or folder in your file system
--Internet Address. This is the address used for the URL. This isn't the full URL, just the part of it for the album or photo.

Again, if you photos or albums the URL will change. To not make the URL change would require a module like G2's permalinks. There isn't one for G3 yet.

I think you can safely ignore that contributed module
