[preface: i'm creating this thread as I believe my other one in the other forum isn't being taken seriously and is not being addressed properly].
This following is addressed to the developers:
The default G3 theme has a major flaw. Currently, the default them of G3 beta is stretching and thus pixellating the full size image when the viewing monitor resolution is larger than the resolution of the full size image.
Click on the image to view the full size, and instead of G3 displaying the full size image at 200x200, G3 stretches it to 898x898 (when viewing on a 1680x1050 resolution monitor). And it's doesn't matter what monitor or resolution, G3 will stretch the image, pixellating it, visually ruining it, to fit. And I'm not the only person using a 1680x1050 resolution these days.
This is unacceptable and should not be a standard feature. I can understand resizing the full size image down when the resolution of the image is larger than that of the viewing monitor, but resizing it up? That's just bad theme behavior.
I'm not asking for anything beyond what's to be expected of the default G3 out-of-the-box: to display full size images properly.
I would appreciate it if a developer could take the time to address this issue, and code the theme so that the full size image is not stretched to fit viewing resolutions that are larger than the resolution of the full size image.
Thank you.
And for anyone that's reading this, see for yourself: upload an image to your gallery that has a resolution smaller than the resolution of your monitor. Then click to see the image's full size, and you will see how the default G3 stretches that image to fit the larger resolution of your monitor. You may not see this happening clearly on images who's resolutions are close to your monitor's resolution, but it is happening. You can easily compare by looking that the full size image on your hard drive and comparing it to the full size image that's being stretched by G3. And remember: any member of the general public that's viewing your images and has their monitor's resolution greater than the resolution of your full size image is going to see horribly pixellated images.
That's why I say this should not be the default nature of G3. People should not be forced to customize the code or choose another theme as a workaround to something that's faulty to being with!

Sorry that your expectations are not being met by this volunteer free project.
There is no need to get all upset. This issue HAS been resolved with this ticket:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/gallery/ticket/695
Feel free to test the current behavior with an Experimental version or wait for this free software to be finished its beta testing phase.
FAQ: How do I upgrade?

Thanks Dave, that's all I needed to know. Glad to know it is being addressed. I wish someone would have told me that sooner!

You could have searched, you could have submitted a feature request yourself.
I was going along the path of people I've seen request the exact feature you don't want, so that's were my mindset was stuck.

We don't have time seeing what user wants what addressed, then send a notification to them.
Do a gut pull every day or read the commits: http://github.com/gallery/gallery3/commits/master/

Hi guys
Paul was completely right about this issue and in my view he was right to press the point. Having images automatically blown up beyond their native physical size is just plain dumb, and I can't believe that anyone who deals with images in any capacity would ask for such a facility. But, point taken about all your efforts Dave and Nivekiam, they are very much appreciated.
Now, if I'm working on a G3 install right now (Beta 3), how do I fix this issue, or do I wait for final release and install over the top?
Thanks a lot.
Simon

Press the point sure, but to make a request 3 times and not check to see if it was resolved; No.
Then there is you tagging on even more, wasting developer time reading this and responding too as well.
sigh,
Dave

OK OK, point taken Dave. It's Friday - I'll buy you a beer
Now, can I fix this issue on my install now, or do I wait for the full release?
Cheers
