One of the configuration variables is for setting the Thumbnail size.

Which dimension is this size applied to or is it applied to the smaller of the two dimensions?

When a change is made to this value, should it not trigger an appropriate thumb rebuild for all pics? It doesn't seem to be doing that right now.

It is aplied to the loger of the two sides depending if you are landscape or portraiture.

Options -> Theme Options ; set the size of the thumb. Save. You will be prompted to build the thumbs.

FYI:
That is inconsistent with the other way of changing the var value via Admin->Settings->Advanced which does not seem to actually work.

I just set that to 95 and flagged some pics with thumb_dirty=1 than started the rebuild. The results were still 200x150

But the proper way:
Options -> Theme Options ; set the size of the thumb. Save. You will be prompted to build the thumbs.
Works right?

The way you listed does work and does the whole job correctly. My point is that when there is more than one way to change a value, the ultimate results should be the same.
In fact I did that again last night for just over 16,000 pics.
