I thought i had upgraded successfully, but when i went to my site, there was still the core upgrade to be done. I really know nothing about programming and do not know where to turn from here so i attempted to link to a txt file that has the entire error message (that is huge!). Any help is appreciated

your log file wrote:
--------------------------------------------------------
System and Gallery information:
--------------------------------------------------------
Gallery version: 2.0-alpha-3

Are you upgrading from this version?

mysqli error: [1146: Table 'fiberarts.g2_PermissionMap' doesn't exist]

Check in your database administration tool that this table exists?

i hate to show just how ignorant i am... but i have no idea how to do what you are asking. i had such trouble upgrading, that i finally completely deleted my gallery software and started over from scratch but using the original database (fiberarts). it actually worked on the highest level, but all the picture links were broken under the albums. i searched the forum and learned to try turning off the mod_rewrite and did that plus ran some of the maintenance tasks like clearing cache, etc. when i went back to the gallery, i had the upgrade page again and thought i better go through it so i did and this is how i got to this point. im frustrated because i cannot even get to my admin now and i have no one to turn to here to help me figure it out. should i just wipe it again and start over again? this seems like an insurmountable task from my end. thank you.

So you do not know what version you had?
Did you create a backup as the directions said?
When you deleted the gallery software did you delete the g2data directory as well? If you did then start over.

no i do not know what version i had and yes i created the backup and still have that original backup on my hard drive... but the original upgrade became difficult with errors that i didn't understand so i deleted the entire program (not the database) and reloaded the newest version from scratch. in my mind, trying to fix the errors would be more time consuming than just loading the entire package from scratch and using the original database. im sure i sound like an idiot here, but when it comes to programming, I am an idiot! :) i used a one-click method from my webhost to delete and then one-click install to reinstall the latest version. The database seemed to link during the setup, but it never worked right.

I would restore your backup then and try again.
Do you have a version.dat file in your backup of your g2data direcotry?

perhaps a new install might be a bit easier than trying to diagnose a issue that I have not experienced.

I would not recommend doing the one-click method, some installers have issues.
