Real newb to this so please forgive that. I did search the forums for answers though some had very similar problems their were (what I thought) a key difference so that solution would not work (For example on the ffmpeg, my GoDaddy account is windows not Linux).
I have the Windows Deluxe plan with GoDaddy.com. Not sure how to find GoDaddy.com server info, hopefully by telling you I have the 'GoDaddy.com Windows Deluxe' it answers the those questions. If not, please let me know how to and I will try.
In the site admin page it states that I have the Gallery 2 core v 1.3.0
Browser: WinXP, with lots of memory and a good processor, run either IE 8 or Chrome.

First time I installed Gallery (from GoDaddy.com App list) it failed when I tried to launch it (gave 500 error), thought I might have did something wrong, uninstaller, reinstalled, 'almost' everything worked. Those items that don't work I do not think have anything to do with the initial failed install attempt.
Problem/Question One: Plugins.
I am trying to install the plugins 'ffmpeg' and 'Add Items' when I go to configure it ask for Path, I have no clue where or what the path is. I called GoDaddy and they stated something on SSH or SSL or something and I would need to switch to Linux based hosting plan (then the guy admitted he only really knew Linux system answers), I need to have the Windows based hosting for other things so that not really an option, unless I want to pay for 2 plans (one just for Gallery),that seems redundant and expensive. How can I do this with the Windows based plan?
Problem/Question Two: Add Items (From Local Server)
One: Once I add the items from the server path, can I delete the photo from that location. Is a copy made and the resized photos, original, thumbnail somewhere else? The From Local Server spot was a unified path I was going to use for everyone to upload their photos, but because of the amount I am uploading I did not want people to get confused with new/old photos in there so was going to delete after I transfered them.
Two: I get a 500 Internal server error, the pictures are large (4.41 to 20.7 MB). I try and do just one pic (the 4.41 MB one) and it adds it in the Album, but no thumbnail. When I open the picture it will show it, when I open the slideshow it does not shot it (or the thumbnails), and when I try and do the site management to create thumbnails it gives me the 500 error again. When I try and do it with Thumbnail the 500 error pops up.
Problem/Question 3. Default permissions.
I would like all new photos to start out with the same default permissions. These photos are for my family (had a house fire and don't want to risk losing what I have left). I would like it so the all photos start with the same permissions, that being only registered users can see, edit, print, etc, not 'everyone', this way only my family or those I have registered see the photos vs all of them being accessible on the internet.
Problem/Question 4. Storage.
I am not sure how the storage of photos and video works, and how they are processed and the image sent. What I would like is for every picture to have three sizes, thumbnail, the original, and a 600x400 (or something similar for the slideshow, suggestions welcomed). Unless the user 'does something', I would like the thumbnails and 600x400s to be default. Hopefully this way they can see all the pics smoothly (ie conserver bandwidth) and if they desire, can download a high quality (the original) if they want.

GoDaddy, Windows, Shared host, hmmm, sounds like a recipe for disaster to me.
But what is the error message you are still getting?

For the error messeage I get when I try and recreate the thumbnails is above.
To address the Windows part, I can do a duel set-up (pay for both) but would rather not is there is a way not to. I will be getting a NAS some time but my personal UL is not going to be as fast as GoDaddy DL.
Last, can the program do what I am asking in part 4?
Thanks in Advance,

I didn't even read all of your points
In the future try to limit one thread to one topic. It makes it much easier to digest.
I believe you could set the thumbnails to be large and just not have any resizes, but people would have to then have permission to view the full-size original.
As for the error, lock timeout:
FAQ: I suddenly got an "ERROR_LOCK_TIMEOUT" message, what do I do?
Again, you're using GoDaddy and Windows shared hosting, good luck. I'd personally switch to another host
, but if you can't I'd at least switch to Linux at GoDaddy. There you could set file locking instead of having to use database locking and this locking issue would probably just go away.
