Hi -

I really like the overall direction of gallery3. However, I am surprised that no one has mentioned the auto image resize feature that smugmug has. Or maybe I just missed it...but this is the one feature that will keep me from moving to gallery3. Smugmug galleries look amazing. I like to tinker and would like to have "my photos on my website" but unfortunately ... the UI trumps everything.

Incase you're not sure what I am talking about: Basically photos automatically adjust to the size of your browser. So let's say you maximize your browser window, the photo you are viewing will automatically snap to the viewable area. It's genius and looks awesome on pretty much any size screen or resolution.

I am not bashing G3 and I used G2 for quite some time. I like Gallery and I like the flexability of have my own site/phots.

I'm sure I am not the only one that just loves the smugmug UI. Believe me, I am looking and looking for a reason to switch to G3 I just feel I'd be taking a step down in the overall appeal and UI.

Am I the only one?

Thanks
Jason

With G3, you can do that. It's just a theme issue and right now you're just looking at the basic default theme. Most people, like with G2 probably aren't going to like the default theme :)

In fact that was the default behavior, but it was changed.

https://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/gallery/ticket/695
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/90906

Now it will only scale up to as large as the image is and if the screen res is larger than the image it won't scale up further, but if the image is larger than the screen size it will scale down....

And I just found another flaw, it centers the image vertically. Which looks great if there are no comments. If there are lots of comments on the page, well.... Actually it looks like it's doing that for portrait images or probably more accurately images it doesn't need to resize. Got more testing there to nail that down.
