I would appreciate some help from a navigation expert! :-)
I will have over 300 artists, each with 1-4 subalbums in the gallery. I need some way of finding them... so my question is:

-How can I get an overview of the artists. I would like and A-Z listing. I guess Google site map is close? Or is there something better? I've installed it, but it doesn't show... :-(
I'm using the standard Matrix theme

-geographical listing of the ALBUMS but not the subalbums. Is this possible to do? I cannot find the Google map function in the plugins. Is it somewhere else?

Greatful for any advice!

There is also a 3rd party module for somthing similar but can't remember the name of the module to search.
It gives a-z links and you go to the albums.

Thank you floridave for your response. I think a drop down would be impractical, since there will be 3-400 albums, it would just be too long.
I think the solution from kruegerber here:http://abc-stars.com/main.php/v/andre_agassi/
is nice, but I don't know any php, so I can't implement it.
The link here is not working:
http://www.galleryembedded.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3897
any ideas where those files can be found now? I'm guessing that would give me something like this:?
http://abc-stars.com/main.php?g2_view=albumselect.Navigation
Really appreciate your help!

the links at the top IS the title module. There is no dropdown in the title module.

@this link not working: Where did it come from?

Thanks again for your reply.
Ok, so this one:

I don't find "Title search" anywhere in the plugin list... is it called something else?

"link not working"
In the previous reply:

You refer to the link where this can be downloaded:
http://codex.gallery2.org/Integration:WPG2forums/viewtopic.php?t=3897
but, there is nothing on that page.

Yes and No. It is a 'block' that you can add to the sidebar or the album.
If you want it at the top you will have to add the block to the album.tpl of the theme you are using.

That's where it got too complicated. Sorry, you must be tired of dealing with people who know no php... :-)
So, if i download it, and plug it in, and do nothing, it will be a list on the side?
I'm not sure it will solve my problem. I want to list the main albums, but not the sub albums. The main album will be a photographers name, and the sub their categories. Any other ideas? :-)

Have you actually tried to install the module?
The wiki page for it tels you how to install and activate. If they are not clear enough tell me what steps are not clear and I can fix.

Once activated you have 2 'blocks' that you can add ( edit album -> theme tab -> blocks to show....)

If you get that far let me know.

Dave

Problem is i can't find it in my plugin list (i only have the official plugins, not the community ones). I did install Google site map, though i guess this was an xml made for Google and not a made for visitors. :-)

Thanks, got it... I assumed i activated the right one. i did this:
Sidebar: "Choose a block"
Add "Find Item Titles" (I'm guessing this is the one, or is it "initial letters") I activated both.
Nothing shows, i guess that's because i have not done this:
"Activate the URL rewrite rules for the 2 album types." a hint, if you have time? :-)
You're a very helpful guy. Send me your address and i'll send you some flowers! :-)

Is there any way for Tile Search to only look at the albums... not the items within the albums?

Much appreciated.
