I installed Gallery two weeks ago on Just host at www.rrvcsdc.org/gallery, using Fantastico. The install works fine for the most part, except the thumbnails do not show up and are just little broken boxes. The FAQ indicate this is a problem with wrong URL path and indicate you should just rerun the install. When I bring up Fantastico on my site on the cpanel, it just indicates Gallery is installed. The only option is "New Installation" or "remove". Can I just use this "New Installation" button to rerun the install? If not should I remove it and reinstall? Could I fix the path in a file on my web installation using the Unix file manager, if so what is the name of the file I need to fix, and what is the fill path name to the file. Qualification: I was a Unix System Admin and Oracle DBA in my former working life, but have been retired for several years, so my skill set is slipping a little. Thanks Gallery URL = http://www.rrvcsdc.org/gallery/main.php |

Lovely fantastico installs, never seem to work and the hosts never seem to actually test the software on their servers....
Post your system information and a link to phpinfo:
FAQ: What information is required when I ask for help in the forums?
FAQ: How do I create a phpinfo page?

I have put the system info on my post. What permissions do I need on the phpinfo file and what is the purpose of that file?

I didn't mention anything about permissions. Just create it and post a link. It displays information about your PHP environment.

Does this look like the right path to place the phpinfo file in?
/home/rrvcsdc1/public_html/gallery/g2data
I put the file in this location and changed the file protection to 755, then used this URL to attempt
to run it http://www.rrvcsdc.org/gallery/g2data/phpinfo.php
Got the following message, so must not have put it in the correct location on my server?
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /gallery/g2data/phpinfo.php on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Where should it be located so that it can be accessed by you?

put it in /gallery/

Disable, uninstall, reinstall, configure test and verify one image toolkit at a time. Start with ImageMagick, NetPBM and Gd. If they pass, activate them, if they don't pass don't activate them.

I am as well in JustHost, same problem as you had. I tried this set of instructions
Thumbnails not created - this is how I fixed it (gallery on justhost.com)
It worked for me as well. Piece of advice, I really had to click on Site Admin/Graphics Toolkits/Toolkit priority and set ImageMagick on top. Otherwise this would not work.
After that, run maintenance again to recreate the thumbnails and this time it worked.
Thank you SantaClaus!!!

Disable square thumbs? Go to Site Admin > Plugins and uninstall the Square Thumbnail plugin.
