Please forgive the WoT, I just want to give as much info as I can. I was using Gallery 3 beta 3 for about 3 or 4 weeks now for my wedding pictures, trying to get a feel for it before I went live for family and friends. I had one issue which lead into another, and I'm not sure if it's all related to the large file sizes, so I'll put both here and you helpful people can tell me which problems are separate and if I should make tickets.
How I set my albums up (might be relevant)
Basically I have one friend who had about 1000 pictures that he uploaded to test things with. The goal was to see if it could handle the upload, if it could handle the picture sizes, if it could move pictures and then rotate them. It looks like each picture was around 2.5mb, which I assumed was ok since gallery resizes them (I think). The upload went fine after one try stalled. After they were uploaded, they were all in one album. I created 4 sub-albums and began to move the pictures from the main album into the other album.
Issue 1: Subsequent picture moves cause selection errors
If I didn't close the window out, the next time I tried to select anything it would select EVERYTHING from the first picture up to where I clicked, even if that's not what I was trying to do. Thus what I had to do was when I moved files, I would have to close out the move window, wait (I assume for the server to complete the file moves), and then reopen it for the next move.
Issue 2: can't move as many pictures as you can select
The next issue was that even though I could select a potentially limitless number of pictures to move only around 10-20 pictures would be moved. (very nice tiny pictures appearing when you drag, btw.)
Issue 3: moving pictures caused pictures to disappear
After spending a good hour or three working on getting files moved into proper albums, I started seeing pictures coming up with the broken file image in both thumbnail and resized and full sized versions. The pictures seemed to have a placeholder, the album was there and the pictures were there, but the files that they were associated to were gone completely. I searched the gallery3 directory on my fileserver and found an empty folder where the files should've been.
Issue 4: everything deleted
I got my friend to send me all 2.5 GB of his pictures so that I could try them myself. I rotated them and put them into albums prior to uploading, thinking that not doing that via the web interface might help. I log in as admin, I try deleting the previous album. I get the pop up window and click 'Delete' and nothing happens. I try a few more times after a minute or so, but get the feeling that it's not working since I was using Chrome. I close Chrome, log in with Firefox, and the same issue happens. Since I had to leave for work in 5 minutes, I closed firefox, reopened it and logged in, and just created a new album with a new name and decided to upload the files there to mess with later. I get to the window about uploading, but in my haste dragged the folders into the browser rather than clicking browse. After I realized my mistake, I tried going back to my album to retry the upload, but now I just see the 'Welcome to your installer' page: hxxp://wedpics.terradin.com/gallery3/
I searched the fileserver, and now I can't find ANY of the pictures I had uploaded in the two other test albums I had up that had been working fine. The couple extra modules I added (download full size and a few others, I think) are still there, but I can't find anything else I added. I should mention my var folder is completely empty, too.
************
Those are the main issues I've had. I'm not sure if it's due to the file sizes/quantity, but as of right now I'm not sure if I should re-install the gallery with the page I have there, or if I should delete everything and do a fresh upload of the installer, or if I should use one of the experimental installs. Any help would be awesome.

Right now, doing huge operations like that does look like nothing is happening because we don't have a "wait" icon or hourglass or something like that.

I don't know what happened to cause your var directory to become empty. You should have several directories there.
Do try installing a fresh install using the latest experimental code and see if this happens again. I'll try dragging files into my browser and see. What other modules do you have installed?

Forgive the repetitive nature but I don't have a list of the defaults so I don't remember all of them. Right now I have akismet, comment, digibug, downloadfullsize, exif, forge, g2_import, gallery, image_block, info, notification, organize, recaptcha, rss, search, server_add, slideshow, tag, tagfaces, user and watermark. I'm almost 100% sure that recaptcha, tagfaces, and watermark were disabled, and download full size was enabled. Other than that, I think everything was default.
I'll try doing a fresh install soon and then I'll link it. Thanks nivekiam.
Edit: Ok, I've gotten the experimental up at hxxp://wedpics.terradin.com/gallery-gallery3-b2d0b3e/index.php/ . I'll try doing some reuploading when I get home. Until then, let me ask you this - If I find this is working out well, if I just reinstall this to a clean directory and migrate the var folder, would that allow me to move the gallery's url, or should I just start fresh and reinstall when I'm ready?

I'm not sure what you're asking here. You could just rename the 'gallery-gallery3-b2d0b3e' directory to gallery or gallery3 or what ever you want and not need to change anything.

Oh. That's basically exactly what I was asking. Sorry, busy day at the office, I get confused easily. Thanks again nivekiam.

Ok, so I got things set back up using the above weblink. However, I'm now having absolutely new problems. I tried uploading my pictures via the main interface as administrator. The first picture, no matter which picture that was, would upload fine. The uploader would then keep going, upload the full file and then reject it saying 'Bad Image File'. (errorlog.txt). I then tried doing a Server Add, and same thing - the first image was imports fine but all subsequent files go through the motions then fail at the end (errorlog 2.txt). I read around trying to see what other people said, but I can't seem to find the php.ini file people mentioned before. These pictures were all added successfully with the gallery 3 beta 3 before, so unless other settings have changed, I can't see why they're not adding now.
In case anyone wants it, http://wedpics.terradin.com/gallery-gallery3-b2d0b3e/phpinfo.php

Looks like one attachment per post, I guess. errorlog.txt below

Are you able to upload just that one image?
How large are these images?

I was only able to upload DSC_0391.JPG; the next file in the folder was DSC_0392.JPG and that failed. The first time I tried it I used a different folder/album and was able to upload DSC_0133, but nothing after that. These images range between 1 and 2.5 MB each. Thought I mentioned that before, my bad. The whole point is to enable people to upload full resolution pictures from my wedding so that I can grab the full res pics while other people can view sized-down versions of the files in the gallery. These are likely the largest files I'll be seeing (unless there are any videos) but I was able to upload all of them the first time before things started to disappear.

Can you upload just that DSC 0392 image by itself using Add > Add Photos?

Nope, when I tried that I got the same bad file image error. I can try again when I get home if you'd like. I'll also try adding some smaller pictures if I get the chance.

Post that image here.

Ok, I got home and tried adding the 392 file to the subalbum 'Ceremony' which already had 391 in it, to no avail. Same Bad Image File error. However, when I went up a level and tried adding it to the main album 'Simon's Pictures' it worked fine. But, when I then tried adding the next photo, 393, once again I got the bad image file error. You can find the 392 file here: http://wedpics.terradin.com/gallery-gallery3-b2d0b3e/var/albums/Ceremony/Pre-Wedding%20Week/Reception/Serenade/DSC_0392.JPG
Looks like I can't post more than one picture per album, for now. You can see the gallery here: http://wedpics.terradin.com/gallery-gallery3-b2d0b3e/ . Floridave and nivekiam, I PMed you an admin access account detail to the forums if you want to try things out. Let me know what else you want me to do.

I have seen this issue before on my host but have never been able to reproduce it.
Look and this item:
http://wedpics.terradin.com/gallery-gallery3-b2d0b3e/index.php/Ceremony/Pre-Wedding-Week/Reception/Serenade/DSC_0392
note the breadcrumb; Wrong. Note the 0 of 1 count; wrong.
Check permissions on the gallery3/var/ directory 777 should do the trick.
see if the http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:rescue module helps.
I tried to reproduce this issue by dow a few installs / upgrades and was not able to find the issue.
Deleting everything and using a different DB seems to have fixed the issue.
We might need access ( ssh ) if you are willing to help us diagnose this issue, but might take some time for a senior developer to investigate.

Breadcrumb counts... this jargon is a bit out of my ballpark. I'd be more than happy to help you guys diagnose it any way I can, in the end it was probably just something I screwed up. I'm not very good with making internets anyways. What I'll do in the meantime is set up a new DB and do a fresh install; should I install an experimental or G3b3? I'll try to figure out how to get you guys shell access and go from there. Thanks for all your help.

Did using the Rescue module help?

I got your PM and logged in. You don't have the rescue module available. Click that link and follow the instructions for getting and installing the Rescue module as well as running it:
ttp://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Modules:rescue
Or just scratch that install all together and start fresh with the current experimental code. I wouldn't even bother with B3 anymore.

Sorry it took me so long, life and all that. I installed the rescue module and tried fixing the crumbs and all that, but no luck. After I tried fixing it I attempted to re-import via the server add since I don't have any other files on me. Same thing happened, just one picture. I'll set up a new DB and just make a clean install later tonight if I can.
