Gallery 2.3 to Gallery 3 upgrade question

I plan to upgrade my "Gallery 2.3" installation to "Gallery3 Beta3", but I have one constrain: will the item ids preserved during the upgrade? |

I take it you don't have URL Rewrite enabled and working in G2? If you want stable URLs, why not?
Right now, no and I'm not sure exactly how it's going to be implemented, but it is planned to have G2 URLs map to G3 URLs in some fashion, most likely redirected to the new G3 URLs as I believe that's how it works with G1 > G2. I think permalinks is an issue that needs to be worked out first too.
