Hi everybody, Can I re-install gallery2 or even update without losing my albums, pictures and their information? I definitley want to get rid of my user tables since they seem to be heavily corrupted. Thanks a lot! |

there's no straightforward way to zero just part of the db. Anything that wipes (and rebuilds) your user table will wipe all your images, albums etc as well.

Well... aren't the pictures stored in folders? So by resetting the database everything should work again, right? I should just lose user tables, descriptoin and tags of images.
How to do this? Should I just copy gallery 2.3 on my server, overwriting existing files and reinstalling the gallery?
Could anybody please confirm what would be kept/lost?

You will everything, including the images. Not the files, but G2 will have no items in any of its galleries. You will need to move (rename) the g2data/images folder before reinstallation (to protect its contents), then you can use the "import from local server" methods to reimport all the images after reinstalling. The picture files will be copied into your new g2data/images folder as part of the import process, then you can delete the old folder. You will not, of course, have tags, titles, descriptions etc.
