Yes, you are crazy
And good luck. I would try installing an install from scratch and testing just to make sure you can get G2 running on that windows server. NOTE: G3, if you are ever planning on upgrading to that, is NOT supported on Windows.
Following this guide should work just fine:
FAQ: How can I move my gallery installation from one server to another?
NOTE: If you were going the other way you would need to pay special attention to step 6.

Thanks and ARE you serious? G3 won't be supported? Damn, that's bad news...
What did you mean by "just to make sure you can get G2 running on that windows server" ? Are there problems running it on windows? Even G2?

G2 is supported but it can be a pain to get running. Are you going to be the Windows server admin or is this at a shared host?
If g3 runs on Windows, it runs, but it's not supported. The only supported platform for G3 at this time is:
Linux
Apache 2.2 or newer
PHP 5.2.3 or newer
MySQL 5 or newer

I'll be an admin on that server, so no problem there.
I guess 2 questions come into my mind. How long will be G2 supported on windows before it'll get dumped and when will G3 final release (not beta) available?
I guess another option would be running Suse as a virtual machine on Windows server,do you think that would be simple to do? Then I could use G3 and have Windows environment on server as well. Are there any issues with that?
Thanks again for help.

G2 will be supported for as long as it's supported. Probably years to come. I don't see any issues with running a virtual server.
G1 was supported years after G2 was released.
