gallery url troubles

Hello. I want to change the default gallery2 url to gallery. I have made the change by modifying the Alias in /etc/gallery2/apache.conf like this...

Alias /gallery /usr/share/gallery2

....and this works in the general, however in some cases I am getting 404 errors when I am working within the admin pages, or for instance, when trying to log in. The URL changes back to gallery2. If I edit the url in the browser manually and change it back to gallery, it works fine for a while. What/where else to I need to change?

Update: I was able to change config.php to use the new url and it seems to work now. I saw that I may need to disable/enable mod_rewrite. This is not installed according to the plugins section.

I wouldn't change it there. Just do this:
