Help Upgrading to Latest Version from 1.5 for Nonprofit Organization

I am also having the thumbnail issues after I have successfully used the gallery without them. I inherited the gallery and would absolutely love to move to the latest version before I get up to speed on it.

Gallery version: v 1.5 RC1
PHP version: 5.2.9

Webserver: Apache 2.2.11
Database: MySQL 5.0.81 (I think!)
Activated toolkits: Cannot find where this info should be?
Operating system: Linux
Browser: Google Chrome or IE8

If someone helps me, we can probably get you a beautiful handmade quilt. :)

Gallery2 is a very different beast to Gallery1 and will need setting up from scratch - do you want to upgrade to the latest version of Gallery1, or do you want to install Gallery2 and migrate your picture across to it (which will leave you with a larger, slower gallery with more features that looks and feels entirely different)?

I would personally prefer moving over to the latest version.

well, the procedure then is to install G2 on your server, alongside G1, then import the G1 images into it.
