[SOLVED] Error on top of the page

I was editing CSS files with a new theme, not with the existing themes, and I get a error on top

vti_encoding:SR|utf8-nl vti_timelastmodified:TR|13 Nov 2009 00:19:22 -0000 vti_extenderversion:SR|5.0.2.4803 vti_cacheddtm:TX|13 Nov 2009 00:19:22 -0000 vti_filesize:IR|1960 vti_backlinkinfo:VX|

All I was messing around with was colors... I remember I had saved and resaved a file called exif_dialog.html.php but after that error occured I undid the color change on that page but the message still happens.

I have tried reverting to the default theme and it still occurs. The site I am messing with is on http://markosphoto.com/gallery4

Thank you if you can help, I may just erase everything and start over again.

Upgrade to the latest experimental code (follow the tips about unpacking the code to ensure that no old files remain)
http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery3:Upgrading

What editor are you using? Don't use frontpage or any other WYSIWYG editor.

Then I suggest you start over with a clean slate.

thanks :)... I figured I would need to.... I probably was to bold editing that one file. If you edit a file and save it then get an error and go undo your change and save it again is it not supposed to rectify the error?

Thanks again floridave.

Most likely. Baby steps is the best way :-)

Ok, I found something interesting. I set everything up again, same exact way, except all I did was change my background color, that message came back up.

Do you think it might be a module I have installed? This is the name of the folder I downloaded modules-gallery3-contrib-f57ac32... I am going to turn each on off to see if anything gets fixed.

I usually switch between notepad and expression... I have been saving lately in expression... I use expression to get colors and used to copy paste to notepad then upload. I will try notepad now to see what happens...

I am going to start over and see what happens when I just make changes via notepad... does it matter if I copy/paste from expression or should I just make all the changes in notepad directly.

I think your editor is adding extra stuff and you will have to be careful about the extra stuff.

Thanks... I will just use it to choose colors and then make direct changes via notepad.... I will tell you if it happens again.

Thank you

Well I edited page.html.php with notepad to increase the size of my logo and that message came back. I have tried turning off all of the added modules and it still shows.

vti_encoding:SR|utf8-nl vti_timelastmodified:TR|15 Nov 2009 18:01:42 -0000 vti_extenderversion:SR|5.0.2.4803 vti_cacheddtm:TX|15 Nov 2009 18:01:42 -0000 vti_filesize:IR|1960 vti_backlinkinfo:VX|

is that what is referred to as debug code? Cause its really not an error it looks like time stamps or something.

All google says about this is the code comes from 'front page' or similar. Yet another Microsoft product that thinks it is better than the user, adding stuff you don't need.
Is this a windows server?

Does it work without editing files? If it does then it is your editor or the way you are getting the files to the server.

Its Linux, it works ok without editing files... I stopped using Expressions, and just used notepad (no copy paste) then using filezilla I upload the file, to the directory.

what are these _vti_cnf folders that are created... I opened one of the folders that was in the copy of the theme I crated, and it had all of the php files included, but they were all 195k... I downloaded the page.html.php file from the vti_cnf folder and it has that error in it... except the date is different.
