I setup a fresh gallery and got always problems, when I tried to "use" Imagemagick.

I think I don't need to translate it:
Gallery URL = http://x.y.net/main.php
Gallery-Version = 2.3 Kern 1.3.0
API = Core 7.54, Modul 3.9, Motiv 2.6, Eingebettet 1.5
PHP-Version = 5.2.11 apache2handler
Webserver = Apache/2.2.10 (Linux/SUSE)
Datenbank = mysqli 5.0.67, lock.system=flock
Werkzeuge = LinkItemToolkit, Thumbnail, Gd, ImageMagick
Beschleunigung = none, none
Betriebssystem = Linux a.b.c.com 2.6.30-xen3-U #3 SMP Mon Aug 17 12:57:16 EDT 2009 i686
Standard-Motiv = matrix
gettext = Aktiviert
Sprache = de_DE
Browser = Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.0.15) Gecko/2009102100 SUSE/3.0.15-0.1.2 Firefox/3.0.15
Zeilen in der GalleryAccessMap Tabelle = 11
Zeilen in der GalleryAccessSubscriberMap Tabelle = 3
Zeilen in der GalleryUser Tabelle = 2
Zeilen in der GalleryItem Tabelle = 1
Zeilen in der GalleryAlbumItem Tabelle = 1
Zeilen in der GalleryCacheMap Tabelle = 0

It is an Opensuse 11.1-system with
ImageMagick-6.4.3.6-5.5.1
libMagickCore1-6.4.3.6-5.5.1
libMagickWand1-6.4.3.6-5.5.1

I found out the following and assume the gallery uses identify to check if IM exists. Identify produces after some time a load over 10.

To complete a now new installation I removed IM from the system before. Then the installation worked nice.

After I tried to activate IM again and tried to _test_ the manual entered path, there is the same problem. The test doesn't end and load gets higher and higher.

As a workaround I did the following:

I entered the path to IM manually, which is /usr/bin and did _not_ test, but saved the configuration. This works fine. When I activated IM, there was the problem with identify again. I closed the webbrowser and started top with the bash to see the pid and killed the identify process. Afterwards I started the browser with the gallery again and now IM was activated.
