Hi,

I newly installed the latest Gallery3 (gallery-gallery3-2d6f5cd.zip) from github on Debian 5, and unfortunately I´m not able to upload any pictures.

When I choose "Add photos" -> (PopUp) "Select photos..." I receive the error

Quote:
! pic.png - Error occurred processing the file

for each photo I try to upload (please see attached file "upload_error.png)

It can´t be a problem with permissions, as there´s a directory "var" in my gallery3 base directory, it´s owned by www-data:www-data, which is the user/group my apache runs, and the var directory has permissions 777.

I also had installed several Gallery versions before, and uploading never has been a problem.

Here in the forum I couldn´t find anything related, and searching Google brought this link

http://github.com/talmdal/gallery3/commit/421a975c0e042a56c12a9894afa38f5785d1fe6d

I downloaded this patch (I think it´s a patch), and overwrote the existing files with the ones from the patch, but that didn´t change anything.
I´m just wondering why it seems that nobody else has this problem.

Many thanks in advance for any hints,
Tom

Post the contents of your recent logs files under /var/logs after trying to upload some photos.

Hi nivekiam,

thanks for your answer!

Weird.
I wrote my posting when I was at work, trying to upload pictures from my Linux Testing Machine (Ubuntu Karmic) there, which failed with the mentioned errors.

Now reading your answer at home, I wanted to check what gets logged to the syslog when trying to upload some pics, and from my home-notebook (Arch Linux) uploading went without any problems.

Will check again tomorrow if this is some kind of "self healing", or if maybe this behavior depends on the firewall at work, which blocks almost every port except 80 and 443.

Cheers,
Thomas

It could be flash version dependent or something else Ubuntu 9.10 has set by default. I'll test on my 9.04 install and see if that works, then upgrade to 9.10 and see if that works.

Really strange.
Tried it again from my Ubuntu machine at work, and this time it worked.

Then also uploaded some files from a Windows machine, and saw that there´s a progress bar.
This progress bar doesn´t appear on any of my Linux machines.

Will check the flash version of my browsers, and test other browsers.

Another thing is, that I can´t see my albums, when I use any other theme than the default "wind".
But for this issue maybe I will do a separate posting.

Thanks,
Thomas

For what ever reason (flash version probably) I couldn't get anything to upload in 9.04, but upgraded to 9.10 and could upload.

That's because Wind is the only theme guaranteed to work. No others have probably been updated to work with the latest CSS changes.
