Trying to test New User function, which I have turned on in Plugins, in order to leave comments. Can't find info on this from search. Does it take more than 4 hours for the system (or whatever mechanism issues the email) to send an email? thanks for trying to help. - Larry

There seems to be a flood of these "my gallery won't send emails" posts recently - at least three in the last seven days. Have you done a search of the forum for them?
What settings have you entered in the main admin page? Have you contacted your hosting provider to determine if php is set up to send emails correctly?
To answer your direct question, Gallery uses php to send emails, which will take exactly as long as your hosting provider has set it up to take.
By the way you are using an old version of G2 (2.2.4) - positively ancient actually, at least 2 years old, so you should probably (looking at the number of items in your db) scrap your entire installation and start with the latest version (2.3).
