Hello. I can't seem to figure out how to get text files and videos to work right in my gallery.

I can't figure out how to configure Ffmpeg for the videos and games. I need the text files(stories) to have a thumbnail, preferably one that can be changed by the user. I haven't found a plugin that seems to support text files though. Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone help me with this?

I'm not sure if GoDaddy even has ffmpeg installed on their servers. You'll need to check with them about that.

For text files to have thumbs, you can install the Thumbnail Manager plugin and setup a custom thumbnail for any file type you wish:

if you don't have ffmpeg, edit movie -> dimensions and add a height/width and the should play fine.
And as Kevin suggests the thumbnail manager module will let you upload custom thumbs for them as well.

OK, I got that installed and working right. But a test story I uploaded doesn't appear right. It gets a scrollbar after I click "Download" and it's a hassle to read. It's in txt format.

Any advice to fix this? Is there any way to make the file appear in the same window as the pics and vids (Not have to download it) and not have a scrollbar at the bottom?

The only thing I can think of is to do some editing on your theme and check fro the type and if the type you're expecting, then try including it:

Though I'm not sure if that requires a file system path or if you can point it to the text file stored in Gallery's system. If it requires a file system path you could hack it, but it would require uploading the file twice, once to put it, it's filename, info, etc into Gallery, and once via SFTP (or something similar) to a location in the filesystem where you store the files.

That's just some really rough brain storming.

Most people would use pdf files for text or similar formats. ffmpeg will generate thumbs of documents like this. Long documents wil have the first page shown as the thumb. 3 cents?
