Looking for a programmer to fix a gallery 2 issue

Hi,

We updated our gallery 2 to the newer version, www.montrealvip.com/gallery2 . The upgrade went bad, but did complete. We saved all our photos and original urls, but lost item descriptions and the item tags.

The serious issue is that we have lots of sites, including our own, that are linking to the gallery using the old item numbers, and thus google amongst others are encountering security violations.

So we're looking for someone to either plug in a script or reprogram the new ones or something like that.

My programming level is nil, thus the need for a pro.

So how did the urls get screwed up? and lost descriptions?

what version were you updating from?

Do you have a full backup of the old gallery and DB?

We did the upgrade and are at a loss on how to install it correctly when things did not go as planned. There is a backup, but I believe it is not 100% complete because he was not able to upload the old gallery back.
The titles and descriptions are there in the backup, as are probably the item id's.
The current version is 2.? and we had an old version from 2006 running.

Biggest concern is this:

I guess the d/23945-2 is the old item. So I need it redirected. We have 10000 images on our gallery, but only 200 that are heavily linked.

its not that easy.
When you upload items to gallery they receive an id and the thumb and resizes also receive ids. If you rebuild resizes and add a new size, the new resize also gets an id.
These ids may or may not be consecutive.
There is virtually no way to restore old ids to a new gallery.

If the old gallery were complete(including the storage directory and DB) a restore/update may be possible.

Other then that, writing some url-rewrites for the 200 some odd items and/or re-linking would be the best bet.
