I've taken a moment to update the slideshow module replacing the old PicLensLite w/ the new embeddable 3D wall when the browser plugin is not detected.
Still defaults back to lytebox when Flash is not present.
I also fixed the slideshow item links.

Please give it a try and report any issues/suggestions here.

Hi again :)

First of all: thanks for the update - I guess I really pushed your buttons! lol :)

2nd - Bug ... maybe lol :) When clicking the "view slideshow" link it still doesn't work with .flvs for me. Check here:

http://noeliaychristoph.com/galleries/main.php?g2_itemId=737

Use link on the left and cooliris will load only thumbs for images.

If the gallery has only .flvs and no images it will come up with the "the feed has no items" error message. You can see this by just looking here:

http://noeliaychristoph.com/galleries/

The landing page has only movie items and cooliris subsequently doesn't find any thumbs to display...

Click the wall icon on the thumbs themselves and it does work. As discussed before in the other thread.

Did I miss sth? Is this maybe sth you didn't actually address?

Cheers

Chris

Uninstall and fully delete your current slideshow module and upload/re-install mine to guarantee a full replacement.

Sweeeeet! I hadn't uninstalled, just removed the directory on the FTP and then uploaded and upgraded. Sorry about that. Very nice, works a charm now! This is very cool, just about the coolest thing I've seen in a long time!

Now to get my gallery in shape with the new module, some embedded walls and a ton of new flvs - ain't life fun when things work :)

Thanks so much for all the great work and avice - truly appreciated!

if you disable the browser pluginand get to see the embedded wall you get a "Get embed code" link for easy code replication.

Niice, that is really cool!

Works great!

One thing I found, I have to check whether it's to do with my preferences: In IE8 on Vista (shudder) with no plugin installed I just get:

Javascript required to view this content.

I do have script enabled in the security settings...

Cheers

I found the issue
Apparently f'n IE does not report document.getElementById('swfContent').offsetWidth (or offsetHeight) properly.
Why anyone would use that crappy piece of #@!% or vista for that matter.

My good intentions to fill your gallery's space with the wall will need some more work.

Lol, tell me about it - I am a web designer by trade so I need Vista/IE to meet my customers requirements ... meaning: try to find the crappiest and/or most outdated combo of anything and make everything work perfectly. One of them has me optimising for Netscape 9 and Safari on Windows. wtf???? lol :)

I don't think anyone would ever notice - IE/Vista users can't possible be cool enough to use cooliris ... :D

@chrisatlemon I cannot reproduce your vista/ie error.(Thanks for making me install that crappy OS and browser)
Make sure you are not using the 64 bit IE - Adobe's flashplayer is not supported in 64 bit browsers.

Definitely not, it's 32bit. I just got the laptop a couple of months ago, it came with Vista Premium and free Windows 7 upgrade, I certainly did not buy Vista by choice, nor do I use IE. I just ran it out of curiosity and came across the bug. It's basically out of the box, has hardly any software installed nor has it had any usage, I just have it sit here to do bug testing for customer sites. Sorry for causing the headache...

I just tried your development site:

http://gl1.6.flashyourweb.com/media/index.php?g2_itemId=2288

I get the same thing - sorry, I only reported what I saw... in any case, doesn't really matter, as you say: who uses that pos browser anyways :)

Yes, flash is installed, just checked a couple of flash sites.

Also checked the embedded wall on your homepage and it loaded (although no thumbnails load there in any browser at the moment, I guess something is slow loading somewhere...)

Hi again,

I've been playing around with this extensively now for the last week or so - great plugin, really is!

One thing I've noticed is that in IE7 and IE8 (XP) when it defaults to embedded wall because the plugin is not installed then it doesn't load the full size images. Is this what you meant by:

Quote:
Apparently f'n IE does not report document.getElementById('swfContent').offsetWidth (or offsetHeight) properly.

When you lock onto an image it just zooms the thumbnail and/or loads it again, but never the full image.

It also has other problems, e.g. in Firefox I can create an embedded wall using your MediaRSS, the URLs your plugin spits out and my gallery image size settings like so:

http://noeliaychristoph.com/fotos/wip.html

Fantastic in Firefox! IE doesn't even load the thumbs the dumb #@$%&. lthough that's prolly sth to do with cooliris rather than your plugin I would assume?

I'm sure you're aware, but since no-one mentioned it I thought I would :)

Cheers, and thanks for the great work

Chris

***EDIT*** in case anyone clicks on my link, my gallery has just gone completely pear shaped. Rebuilding thumbs froze and left it in tatters. I'm getting it all restored but it's likely that for a for a few hours/days there'll be nothing to look at...

Why do I get 5 emails for each of your posts?

I cannot reproduce any of your errors.
Anybody else having these troubles?

Hm, I don't know, do you het one if I edit? I may have edited the post.

Ok, so you do actually see the thumbs load in IE7/8 when you go to this page?

http://noeliaychristoph.com/fotos/wip.html

And it does load crisp and sharp 2.5MB images in IE8/7 when you look at this embedded wall

http://noeliaychristoph.com/fotos/main.php?g2_view=slideshow.Slideshow&g2_itemId=25262&g2_return=%2Ffotos%2Fmain.php%3Fg2_itemId%3D25262

Then it's all good, must be my IE which is buggered then. I have 3 PCs, 2 XP and 1 Vista laptop. On the laptop I get the script error, on the other 2 I get the aforementioned.

I've stopped messing around in any case, so I won't bug you anymore :) Thanks again for the great software - had some great fun with it and will have in the future. But for now I'm off to smugmug.com and have someone else worry about bugs in my databases, conversions, accounts, whatever, restoring, php timeouts and god knows what ... I need to get back to my real life! lol :)

Cheers

You're probably right - sth funky somewhere. In Chrome it doesn't work either, only FF seems to respond correctly - grrrrrr.... I'll find what it is and I'll post here in case someone else gets the same.

I have updated the 2.0 Slideshow module to 2.1.0 . I have the Gallery 2.3.1
It seems they are some problems when browsing Chrome 5 beta (latest version) and latest version of Cooliris. When the Cooliris extension is activated nothing happens when i click View as Slideshow link. But it launches in cooliris when i click the cooliris icon from the images.
If i disable the extension the Embed Wall works OK when i click View as Slideshow link. I have disabled all my other installed extension and let only Cooliris, cleared the cache, etc ... still the same problem.

On Firefox 3.0.19 the link works both with Cooliris addon enabled or disabled . When it enabled it launch the application in cooliris. When is disabled it launch the Embed Wall.

and i have one question:
how can i can apply the cooliris flashvars (http://www.cooliris.com/developer/reference/flashvars/) to customize the appearance ? (background color, removing the twitter logo, etc). I have opened the Slideshow.tpl but I have no idea where to insert the parameters in the code.

keyword beta

Those only apply to the embeddable wall and not the browser extension.
but you can add them to the flashVars array line ~29 like:

    var flashvars = {ldelim}
        feed: "{$Slideshow.embeddableMediaRssUrl}",
        backgroundAlpha: 0.3,
        backgroundImage: "http://www.yoursite.com/images/my_cooliris_bg_image.png",
    {rdelim};

thanks.
i have another two questions.

it seems they are two settings that they have no effect (they are selected)
1) I added the "item action" in my dynamic albums sidebar. the search box and image block works ok, but no Item Action appeared. is it a problem with my gallery or this is normal ?
is there any way to put a link "View as slideshow" in the sidebar of my dynamic albums ? I want to be able to launch the dynamic albums in the Embed3D Wall.

2) if I select "Browse dynamic album" in the options, when I click an image it opens the image simulating a dynamical album and next/previous work in that dynamic album. however if i press the "View as slideshow" it opens me a the list o files from the original album of the file, not the dynamical album. It's like the "Jump to original album" has be selected.

So it seems there is no way to launch a dynamic album in the Embed3D Wall

There are no item actions for a dynamic album - you cannot edit an album that does not exist album.

as for your second question
http://gallery.menalto.com/node/83256?page=1#comment-309149
but I have not tried it with the updated module.

I've just upgraded from 2.0 to 2.1 and first of all GREAT WORK!!!! Now my slide show is very quick and slick with the 3D wall.

One problem that I noticed.

When I'm logged in as administrator the 3D wall does not always display.

1) When I'm in the album view, it brings up the old PicLens slide show.

2) When I open one of the images, now in image view, click slide show will open the new 3D wall slide show.

3) As a guest, everything works fine and goes to the new 3D wall slide show as expected.

Thanks for any help.

On a side note.... How do one put the "View Slideshow" on the top album name banner area centered so it's more visible?

Sounds like you either have some caching issues or your theme has an older style slideshow link which calls piclens lite directly.
Clear your cache in gallery admin -> maintenance and also your browser's cache
And try the matrix theme to see if its without these strange issues.

Thanks, that solved the problem. I've also disabled performance tuning just in case and re-enabled it afterward.

Indeed, I am using the matrix theme. How do I now put the "View Slideshow" in large font centered in the gray area?

Thanks a million!

I know I've posted this info in more than one place in these forums...
but I could not find one at the moment so from memory...
you can place a link in your theme templates with:

{if $theme.pageType == 'album'}
<div class="buttonViewSlideshow">
    <a href="{g->url arg1="view=slideshow.Slideshow" arg2="itemId=`$theme.item.id`"
         forceFullUrl=true forceDirect=true}">{g->text text="View Slideshow"}</a>
</div>
{/if}
{if $theme.pageType == 'photo'}
<div class="buttonViewSlideshow">
    <a href="{g->url arg1="view=slideshow.Slideshow" arg2="itemId=`$theme.parent.id`"
        forceFullUrl=true forceDirect=true}">{g->text text="View Slideshow"}</a>
</div>
{/if}

Martin wrote:
Thanks for providing a plugin that supports the latest version of Cooliris. I especially like the idea of the BackgroundMusic support. However, the users of my family gallery - many of whom are 70+ years old - want a simple full screen slide show of the family pictures rather than a fancy 3D wall that they have problems navigating. Is there a way (e.g., variable) to start it up as a slide show that immediately starts rather than as a 3D wall? E.g., by setting itemGUID?

Gallery Admin -> Slideshow -> Uninstall Cooliris

Martin wrote:
P.S. In the official 2.0 version I also changed the wait time from 10 to 4 seconds. 10 is pretty slow. Maybe this could be made a configuration item so that people don't have to modify the code.

Gallery Admin -> Slideshow -> Delay (seconds)

when follow "Get Embed Code" link, the 'width' is returned in pixels.
it should be in percents (like in the template), because if I paste this somewhere, the way others will se this will depend of my display resolution when generating the code.

it also returns the embed code for that browser, and may not work in others.
I need to re-visit, thanks for reminding me.

This module is very beautiful and easy to run, thank you. I uninstalled the CoolIris to get a slideshow instead of the wall, is it possible to loop it or have fullscreen slideshow like the old cooliris slideshow?

So you're using the javascript lytebox slideshow? I've made no changes to that.
Any config options for lytebox are in modules/slideshow/data/lytebox.js

Thanks for your reply. In the previous version of your Slideshow module, with the CoolIris slideshow, which I am using now at www.connietreen.com/gallery
I would like the slideshow to loop by default. Any ideas?

www.connietreen.com/gallery is using the old picLens Lite as a fallback.
The specific upgrade for slideshow 2.1.0 was to remove that and use the new embeddable wall.
If you want the old functionality, use my older update which still allows you to choose which resize to use.

The 2.1.0 release is awesome!!!

Just curious, is there a way to have the photos ordered in rows instead of in columns?

In other words I'd like to use the right-arrow key to navigate photos in order rather than the down-arrow key.

Thanks!

That would be a cooliris setting, check their docs if there is a setting that can be implemented, I could guide you as to what to change.
