Mobile theme is my deal breaker

I love much about this product, but I don't think I can use it without a mobile theme for mobile user agents. From my reading here, it appears that a mobile theme is possible, just not done yet. I can't afford to spend much time getting my initial gallery up, so I'm going to need a starter theme to get me going.

Can anyone toss me a functioning mobile theme for 3.0 RC2? Is there a plugin for enabling it as a function of user agent. I can deal without user agent detection if the theme is designed well enough to work nicely on both desktop and mobile screens. Thanks!

I can't afford to spend much time in making a theme either. But what does the default theme not offer that a mobile theme would?

Usability. Compare visiting Facebook or Picasa from an iPhone, Android, or Palm Pre/Pixi to visiting the default Gallery installation.

In particular, thumbnails should be recognizably large without having to zoom in, and links/buttons need to be large enough and isolated enough from neighbors to be clicked with an on-screen press of the finger. Accomplishing this in part requires eliminating the need to zoom and scroll horizontally. Menus should be accessible from the top of the page, fonts need to be large enough to read without zooming, except perhaps for the descriptive text that accompanies images.

Without a mobile-specific theme, users have to zoom in on each page they visit and scroll around left and right in addition to up and down.

(Ugh. This captcha verification is driving me crazy. I just lost my second followup post attempting to get the thing to generate one I could read. I can only read about one in three, and it always asks me after I post instead of when I post.)

Basically, I need to see a demonstration of a mobile theme before I can know that it's possible to create a decent mobile theme for Gallery. I don't want to be the one testing the hypothesis. I don't know a thing about Gallery and don't want to spend the time learning if I'm only go to have to move on in the end.

It'll stop requiring you to verify shortly, just hang in there. We're doing our best to keep this forum from getting overrun by spammers.

It shouldn't be too hard to make a mobile theme. I'm heads down on getting 3.0 out, but after that I may tinker with making one for the iPhone.

Okay, thank you. I may come back later to see how things stand. There's something really cool I'd like to do with Gallery, if 3.0 proves flexible enough, unless I find another solution in the interim.
