The Future of G1
Gallery 2 is definitely here and continuing to pick up speed but development on Gallery 1 has not completely stopped just yet. Around april this year Gallery 1.5.3 will show up. This release will be mostly a "nice" release. Ask our developer Jens for more info. Security problems will be fixed as soon as possible and we plan to keep fixing major bugs in Gallery 1 for a while. Any highly ranked feature requests in the feature request system tagged with [G1] will be considered, but almost all of our efforts are now behind Gallery 2.

New Features
  • Imagemaps - add descriptions that pop up when a visitor hovers over different parts of an image.
  • Some context sensitive help - click on the help icon when you see it.
  • Thumbnail Ratios - you can now have square thumbnails if you like
  • Admin start page - including rebuild all thumbnails
  • Download album as ZIP file
  • Better Joomla support

yep, nice and square. have a few samples at my Gallery 1.5.+ sandbox - http://sandbox.negimaki.com/gallery/

Beware of an accidental feature regression in this release -- you can no longer move or copy photos from album to album unless you are administrator, even if you have the proper permissions. See this thread for details.

I am very sorry for this mistake.
Its already fixed in CVS for 1.5.3

Yeah I don't mnean to cast blame or anything. Just thought people should know. (And hey, in the future, it'd be good to put any intentionally-removed functionality in the RC notes so it can be tested -- it hadn't occured to me to test this before the release.

Yeah i think its just the permissions, if you do all to 777, it must be fine then?

Err, the link you have in your quote isn't the link I had in my post.

But no, it's not an issue of setting weak permissions -- the feature was actually mistakenly removed.
