Developer Documentation

After reading the forums for a while I'm realizing that the biggest thing holding us back right now is a lack of clear documentation on how Gallery 3 works under the covers. I'm going to spend today today writing developer docs. Want to play along?

Here's the auto-published version of what I've got in the works:

Creating full Gallery wrapper

What I am planning to do - and after looking over the on-site tutorial/guide I don't know how to do without breaking the page - is just plop in a header and footer wrap. That's it, 2 include files around the Gallery code. My usual page structure goes something like

[code]<?
$title = "Page Title";
include "./shared/header.inc";
?>

Page HTML

<?
include "./shared/footer.inc";

Can't get gallery3 to find GhostScript

I am fairly adept at installing modules on these types of configurations (for instance, installing Parsoid on MediaWiki), but for some reason I can't get Gallery3 to find Ghostscript on my server. I have installed the program via unpacking it as well as the executable file. Could someone direct me to a tutorial or explain to me how to make Gallery3 find GhostScript? Thank you.

Tag searching

Is there a module out there which allows for tag searching? Or is there a setting I am missing in the admin settings? Most of my images are not accurately named (I am creating a gallery for my ad agency, we have tons of images and it is not possible to rename them all), so I need to rely on tag searches, not image name searches, for better functionality.

adsense module fix

I installed the adsense module (http://codex.galleryproject.org/Gallery3:Modules:adsense) on 3.0.9 release, code named Chartres.

I had to tweak the source to get it working:

modules/adsense/helpers/adsense_theme.php:

 From:
$google_code = '
<script type="text/javascript">' . $code . '</script>
<script type="text/javascript"
