Me too?? :(

I'm afraid i have no way of restoring previous version..
So, I can't deactivate non-compatible modules at all?

Can I make this jump from 2.0.2 to RC1 or RC nightly or RC2? I assume so from the website.

yes. 2.0, 2.0.1, 2.0.2 -> g2.1 rc-1 or rc-2 or current nightly snapshot works
2.0.3 -> current nightly snapshot or g2.1 rc 2 works
BUT: 2.0.3 -> g2.1 rc 1 does NOT work since 2.0.3 was released after g2.1 rc-1 because we didn't plan 2.0.3 in advance.

a) what was your previous version of g2?
b) where are you stuck, what message does it show?
c) got a backup? if so, revert if you want to get it working again as fast as possible.
d) i'd favor if this was discusssed in a new forum topic in the support forums since we want to keep this topic...on topic.

You guys are doing amazing work here! Just one questions. Is there a timeline for RC2 to "officially" come out? I'd rather not use CVS again, and there are some major bug fixes that I can wait for, but it would be easier if I knew approximately when. I know y'all are busy, but it would be nice (say at the beginning of this forum topic) to get timeline updates.

Thanks a ton either way!

Later,
Scott

Can I go from 2.0.x to nightly build 1b? (That is: should I pick 1a or 1b?)

PS Apart from this completely headache with 2.0.3 I've caused... G2 has been very good. Cant' wait to see RC1 or RC2 in action... albeit beta products. Thanks!

I see with the 2.1 RC to upgrade you say all files must be replaced. With the final release will you offer a way to only upload a few files as in changed files the way you have for say from 2.0 to 2.0.1?

I think I found a bug. If you password protect an album, or items(?), they don't show up in the guest preview mode while you are logged in as administrator. Usually you are supposed to be given a login block to type in the password, but all I receive is an empty album.

thanks for reporting.
but the guest preview mode is known to be quite inaccurate. it should just give a very rough preview of what the guests might see.
if you really want to see what guests see, log out of g2.

Last night's CVS
Only a couple of probs - the module activation barfs on the Google Maps module, but if you go back one stage and start again, it's OK.
On import from Gallery 1 data, it stopped 90% of the way through told me I had imported 0 albums and 0 users.
But they were all there.
When I then went to the Gallery, it gave me a divide by zero error, but on refresh, everything was OK.

One thing I would say - when it falls over on something (ie: creating thumbnails), would it be possible for it to continue with what it can, and note the error? Or, sometimes it will SAY it has failed, but the action is complete.

Apart from that, it's looking very good. MUCH faster than 2.0x

Note to anyone reading this: Do NOT configure your gallery2 on a PC, then move it to Unix/Linux! It will not work, and you'll waste literally days of your life trying to recover the data! This isn't G1, it doesn't play like that :)
(Suggestion for README, perhaps?)

this sounds like an ordinary g1 import / migration issue. there are a lot of them. not related to the g2.1 release. please post such problems in the corresponding forum. thanks.

@google maps module:
i don't think it's g2.1 ready, not yet.

@migrating from ms windows to linux:
it works, but it takes some manual steps. so keep reading the corresponding faq entry.

after a small problem I got gallery 2.1 installed ( nightly build from 08.03.2006 ) works great!
the only big Problem I found is with a old module I had installed. The ImportExport module.
I don't realy need it anymore but, I cant uninstall it in gallery 2.1 ( it's complaining that the core version doesn't match ).
now the problem that it creates is that I can't add any items because of this component, so I returned to my production installation still runing with 2.0.3 and uninstalled the module there.
copied everything again to my test environment, no complaining about the module anymore in the site admin, but therfore the next error when trying to add an item:

Error

An error has occurred.
