you can place images into any php enabled page.

You might be able to use linkItems (I think they're called) to create new albums containing linkItems to the images you want in your new "roots", and then there's a way to hide the real root. (Maybe someone can elaborate on the mechanism for doing what I dimly remember can be done?)
But honestly you would be combining several hardly-used techniques which would be difficult to set up. Without much assurance that it would be reliable for you.
