"Success" but "Dang....something went wrong"

I figured out how and where to install Gallery 3. After a couple tries I finally got the database access issues sorted out. I reached the "Success! You Gallery 3 Install is complete" screen, but when I click on "Start Using Gallery" I got a "Dang...something went wrong" message. Any suggestions? I am not really sure what needs to be done at this point. Earlier in the process I had to give my browser a more specific path to install. Is there a specific file Chrome needs to point at to get started rather than just the directory "www.mysite.com/gallery3/" ?

I just got some info back about my server. Is is possible that it's a problem with the version of Apache? My server is currently running v2.0.

It's an independent local server. That's about all I know. He checked out the above link about possible host issues, and he couldn't find anything that would cause problems other than the Apache version difference. There aren't any known problems running it through Chrome, correct?

Okay, I think honed in on the correct issue. I rechecked the error log today and it was trying to use a different database than what I thought I had installed it with, and I had deleted the one it was trying to use. After re-creating the database, it now gives me this, and I don't know what it means.

2011-09-24 12:04:04 -04:00 --- error: Database_Exception [ 44 ]: #1146: Table 'mhwood_pics.caches' doesn't exist [ SELECT *
FROM `caches`
WHERE `key` IN ('var_cache') ]

Yeah, we checked out the requirements, but weren't sure if it could be worked around somehow. My host isn't interested in upgrading to v2.2 cuz he is concerned with stability issues. Oh well, looks like no Gallery 3 for me. :/

He's probably still running Windows 98 too. Time to upgrade, way past time to upgrade. 2.2 is the latest, stable and recommended branch of Apache and has been for a few YEARS now. 2.2.0 was released December 2005, nearly 6 years ago.

Either educate your host or find someone willing to keep current with technology, education, information and skills...
