Instructions needed to add an update to the Search module

Hello,

I use Gallery2, with Carbon theme. Searching de Mods/Patches page in Gallery2, I've found the patch called 'search per album' + 'search for each word' extensions for the Search module. I've downloaded the file and I'd like to install it but I'm not sure how to do it exactly so if anybody could help me with the steps, I'd be very grateful. If I understand correctly, I have to:
1) Bakcup Search and Core files
2) Copy the modules Search and Core (from the downloaded files)
3) And now?
Do I have to activate/install anything
