Gallery version 2 - not sure which release

I maintain a Gallery2 site for my wife. Following a problem at the data centre we lost all of our MySQL databases and no - in the case of the gallery site there is no db backup available.
All the image files (in g2data folder) are intact and present. Are there any tools available that would allow the G2 database to be reconstructed from an existing g2data folder tree?

http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:How_to_Add_Items#How_to_Add_Items_from_the_Local_Server_.28or_with_FTP.29
this method creates albums based on directory structure.
But this will not restore descriptions, keywords, comments...

Ah thanks - that looks most promising.

Of course - but to get the structure in place is a good start. I thank you.

Well it was over a year ago I asked this but I am hoping for an update!
Is this facility included in the latest Gallery v3 or - if the process is different, can you point me to the article for V3 so that I can follow that.
Thanks for any help
