I had an old Cannon Elph digital camera that I used to take video, which is in .avi format.
I have ffmpeg installed, but it cannot play .avi. Any suggestions, other than to convert .avi to mpeg4, etc.

avi is not a web friendly format. See this thread for easy mass conversion http://gallery.menalto.com/node/104388

Thanks for your help. I have not spend any more time on this project, being too busy doing other things. I'll return to this later this year.

Thanks. Looks simple and easy enough. I'll download it in the next few days when I have some spare time.

It did not work. I can play my file in WMP (win7), but only after I download and installed Indeo Video 5 driver (IV5). I suspect Freemaker did not use IV5 to decompress my file.
Here is a link to my file if any of you would like to try, but you need IV5 to play it.

I did it. I originally used IV5 to compress the video stream. I recompressed it using MP4, and works like a charm. BTW, I used Virtualdub.

Thanks for all your help.
