Installing usermessages plug-in

I am trying to install the usermessaes plug-in. When i try to unzip it, WinZip asks for a file extension....

If you downloaded it from here: http://codex.gallery2.org/Gallery2:Modules:usermessages

That's a gzipped tar archive. Try using 7-zip, http://www.7-zip.org/ it supports many more formats than winzip.

Thanks.. I was able to download and unzip it using 7-zip...However I have not been able to get it to work. It does not appear to be in the same format as the other modules.. It downloads as a .php file. Any suggestions on how to use? Meanwhile I will keep experimenting and try to figure it out.

If you just see a "file" or a directory named "usermessages" double-click on that and that will show everything in the module.

Or you can just download and unzip the zip file I attached to this thread.
