Hello forum,
I am with an ISP that gives its members 50 MB of Web space. I was hoping to upload some photos to this Web space and had planned to make tables in Dreamweaver or Frontpage and insert the photos into them.
Someone on a tech forum provided a link to your site and after taking a look at some of the samples I became interested in your product.
The ISP I am with supports PHP and MySQL and a few other things.
To date, I have only uploaded Web pages (using Dreamweaver or Frontpage) to the Web space. I have no knowledge of "PHP" but I liked the look of the examples of "Gallery" so here I am aksing the question: Can I use "Gallery" if I am not actually hosting my own server? My ISP does the hosting.
Thank you.

50 MB isn't a whole lot of space, you probably won't be able to upload too many photos, but it's possible.
PHP is probably the bigger problem. You should check with your ISP to see if their servers support PHP...

I disagree. You can get a pretty decent gallery up if you only put up the best pictures. Keep them small, and compress them, and you can get 500 pictures. Not a bad start.
My Old ISP never took down my 50 Mbyte space, so you can check it out here http://www.mcgalliard.freeuk.com/ (a lot wrong with it, but there are plenty of images). As you can also see, it formed a solid basis for my much improved home page.
The bigger issue is the size of gallery code, which is about 7mb. However, if you only want english, you can remove locale/ and po/ and get it down to about 1.7 mb.
Make sure your ISP has PHP 4.04 or greater, with safe mode OFF and exec enabled.
Technically, there is no problem running Gallery if those conditions are met.

Well, I'm just trying to work out how to create these photo albums before I worry about the size of the Web space. To which directory on my Web space should I upload "Gallery"? Do I upload everything to the same directory on my Web space? I think the "root" of my Web space is something like: ftp://username@members.swiftdsl.com.au where I can view the directories I upload. I normally use SmartFTP to upload directories though. I am asked for a password before I can see anything. My ISP told me to put an "html" directory here for Web pages. What about "Gallery"? Should I put the "Gallery" directory in the "html" folder or in the "root" directory?
Thank you.

Put it wherever you can view it via the web, all ISPs are different.

SeamusWarren,
This is the wrong forum. I'm splitting the posts. See my reply (shortly) in the installation forum.
