On my website www.wildblueimages.co.uk I am using a Grey pop theme on Gallery 2. On every page there are 3 randomly generated images on the left hand side. From the home page you can click on one and it brings up the image fine. If you click into an album e.g. Wildlife and then click on the random image it throws a "page cannot be found" error. if I go and fine the image within the albums it opens fine. I'm afraid it's a long time since i instaleld Gallery so have forgotten most of my limited knowledge.

Thansk for any advice

Mike

Well, you could certainly upgrade to the latest G2 2.3.1

But otherwise I'm not sure specifically whats going on.
Looks like you are using either the imageblock module to display these images, or a grey pop specific block.

If it were one of my tools, I'd advise to make sure the dynamic albums module is installed.

Unfortunately that is all Chinese to me!!! I have a guy who manages the website who instaleld it all after severla false attmepts so not sure he know much about it either!!! How painful is the upgrade process and is there an idiots guide as have to ask him t do it I think?

if i go into maintenance i see "dynamic albums" listed under "display2. does than mean it is installed? i can see it listed as instaleld in the plugin so I guess so.

When I click on a random image from the home page I get this link which is to the location of the image

http://www.wildblueimages.co.uk/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=1965

When I click on a random image from underlying albums I get a reference /array

Upgrading G2 is as easy as Backing up your filesystem and DB -> Overwriting old G2 files w/ new G2.3.1 files -> running the upgrader (yourgallerysite.com/upgrade)

If you need someone to do it, for a couple of bucks I'm sure we can get it done for you.

I'm just really unfamilar with working on the webserver although I can access it and upload files via ftp. I also have another login that goes onto the webserver directly I think. Is there an idiots guide to what files to put where and instructions to upgrade?

Will have a good read. Can I upgrade directly from 2.2.6 to 2.3.1? The pre-installer instructions seems fairly within my skill set! Just need ot work out how to backup the current version in case it all goes horribly wrong.

cheers for help

Yes

That is more for new installations.

Backups are as easy as downloading your entire site via ftp and exporting the DB in your host's supplied tools.

And to update... after the backup(very important) just overwrite the current G2 codebase w/ the new one and visit the upgrade page.
