Dear support team,

I'm new to Gallery 3. I just installed the latest version from your website (Version 3.0.3) on a freehoster called www.bplaced.net. The installation worked fine, I can upload photos.

But when I tried to install a new language file (e.g. German) I got an error message: @todo TRANSLATIONS_FETCH_REQUEST_FAILED

I searched your forum and there was a problem in 2010, but this case was fixed.

I found another thread who has the same error on Bplaced, but he never got an answer to his thread: http://gallery.menalto.com/node/102595

I cannot change the settings of the server, because it's a freehoster. I can send you the log file which was created by email, but I don't want to publish the log file here in the forum. If you want the log file, please send me an email address.

Please help me as soon as possible.

Is there a possibility (workaround) to manually install the necessary files by ftp Upload?

Best wishes and thanks in advance,
Marcus

I would suspect that there is some outgoing restrictions that your host has implemented preventing the request to our server for the translations.
PM (write to author link) logs but I suspect it will not say much.

Hi Dave,

I sent you the log files (PM). Did you receive it? Did you have a chance to have a look on them? I still have the problem, that I can't install any language files, because of the error: @todo TRANSLATIONS_FETCH_REQUEST_FAILED

I also informed the webmaster and got the following answer:

"Hallo,

Tobi
bplaced Tech. Support"

Here the translation:

"Hello,
for this operation you need to have access to external servers, which means you need Soclets respectively the "allow_url_fopen command. This command is set to "Off" by default.

We have a "pro" Upgrade where this command is available (Note: "Pro" is with costs). You can find more information when you follow the link in the menu of our website.

As a workaround you could load the language search for the files and upload them manually.

With kind regards
Tobi (Tech Support)"

So it seems, as you thought, that the server is blocking the requests from your gallery servers. I will ask them if they can unblock my account, but if they negate: Is there a possibility to load the files manually?

Is there any workaround? It took me 2 days now to setup everything and everything is working fine except the languages. I would be really a pity, if I had to change the server, just because of this language blocking problem.

Could you please provide a solution or workaround?

And thanks again for your great work!!! :-)
Marcus

not that I know. Perhaps another community member will chime in.

I'm a step further but I definitely need some more support. Here's what I've done so far:

I installed XAMPP on my local PC. I installed Gallery 3 on my local PC. I updated the language files (Gerrman). Everything worked smoothely. I exported the MySQL Database. I copied all Gallery Files via FTP to the Freehoster. I created a database on the Freehoster with the same name than on my local PC and imported the tables. And it worked, I have a version with the correct localisation. B u t ... now all the pictures are invisible (they don't load). If I change the .htacess file to .htacess.tmp the images are displayed, so it has something to do with the folder safety functions.

Who as an idea, what and where I do have to make changes, that Gallery 3 recognizes the Thumbs / Resizes and Original images. All the files are physically stored on the server, but Gallery 3 seems not to see them?

Please can someone help, I work already since over a week on that problem. I'm not a web programmer and I have no clue, what to change in the database, that the images are displayed correctly again.

Remember: When I installed Gallery3 in English on this Freehoster, I never had problems with displaying images. So it seems that it the migration from local PC to Freehoster causes some problems with file/folder permissions. Maybe I have to update some pathnames in a configuration file?
Thanks for your help in advance :-)
