From your logs it was not for over 100 times!

hard to keep a DB intact with the DB going on so may vacations.
The way to eliminate the sequence id issue is to convince the DB server to stay and work for you.

All these issues you are having are to do with problems with your server and you have to refer them to your host.
Your error log shows that you are getting several MySQL Error Code 2006 errors (MySQL Server Has Gone Away). There are specific issues that lead to this error such as timeouts and you have to refer this problem to your host as it generally needs changes in the MySQL settings and rebooting MySQL.

Thank you for your explanation, yes, it is hard to keep a DB intact with the DB. As Dayo's suggestion, let me contact my host (Arvixe) to see if they are able to fix DB problem.

Yes, I just see several "MySQL Error Code 2006 errors (MySQL Server Has Gone Away)" in my error log. I shall contact Arvixe- my host to see if they are able to help. If it is resolved, I shall let you know how.

Since our alumni reunion association is a non-profit organization, we shall not be able to offer another expensive VPS plan as Arvixe's suggestion. We are very disappoint that they are not able to fix MYSQL problem for our existing Business Class plan including unlimited disk space and unlimited data transfer.
Is there any better hosting service special for the Gallery 2/3?

Unfortunately the message you are referring to is rather dated and refers to software that is no longer in use. For instance the MySQL version is 5.0 and 5.1.
At this time to take advantage of caching software, it does require a VPS or higher, so that was the correct course of action if you would like to have caching software installed.

News to us!
G2 is still in use and was just recently updated to Gallery 2.3.2 just this month.
G2 does not require caching software and if he can show us that requirement we would like to know.
Seems to me that Arvixe just wants more of your $.

After I read your message, I emailed Arvixe Support and asked about that requirement of Caching Software. I get the following respond from them.

Your mysql usage is extremely high and its from last several months. When your mysql activity starts overloading the mysql, the mysql access is restricted temporarily and you start receiving mysql error. As your site is having extensive mysql activity so I would suggest upgrading to higher plan to have more resources available to your account.
By caching software, Richard meant any PHP caching extension like APC/xcache or you can check with Gallery2 if they have any caching plugin like wordpress to reduce the overall resource usage.

3) Should we upgrade to Gallery 2.3.2?

if your gallery does not change often or few new items try Gallery Admin -> Performance -> Acceleration

looking at your site you seem to have a sidebar block of 'latest albums' and a footer block of 'latest items'. Those could be contributing to your mysql usage. I'm not sure if Gallery Admin -> Performance -> Acceleration help with those or not but it is worth a shot as it will help other aspects.
