Just for the record, and in case I win the lottery, I would like to know what the general procedure is and where should I explore to commission a developer to write an script and make it available to anyone who is running Menalto Gallery site to import photos from Flickr, Facebook, Smugmug, Photobucket and all these popular photo sharing services?

It's a bit disappointing that to my knowledge, none of the largest and most popular web hosting providers have thought or considered the proposal I just mentioned. Wouldn't that boost potential customers who want to run Menalto Gallery in their VPS and dedicated server offerings? And more importantly overall, get more folks interested in the photo management platform we all love?

Pictarine is the closest thing I can think of or at least their ideas of consolidating. We seriously need something that will do the same, but for Menalto Gallery users.

You thoughts?

With Gallery3 it shall be rather quick given the source provides proper feed of data. Let me know if there is a _really_ popular service that should get ->G3 migration done, I might raise a hand..or 2 ;>

if you look at this - http://www.pictarine.com/images/landing_services.png

a ripe time to create an Instagram -> G3 - and Photobucket also.

maybe even consider Shutterfly since 1 billion photos will be migrated from the closing of KodakGallery.com in July 2012 - but the Gallery Project has a deal with them I think under the Printing Services plugin/module

mobileMe users will soon be forced to use iCloud, so that's another service to consider. Then again, it's easier said that done by someone like me who can't read/write/decipher G2/G3 code. Sorry.

imagine, well updated import scripts from all those services -> G3 - it's time to bring Menalto Gallery back to the limelight of photo sharing, imho.
