it seems that members can create their own albums on our pages.... Can this be prevented so we have more control over the number and names of albums? This is where the gallery is..... any ideas??? thanks! |

From what I can see from this module, this allows us to assign a home album for each user but i dont know exactly what that means and how does it behave for the registered member?
Thank you

I think my question was misunderstood....We want members to be able to view any album they want, we just dont want them to make any on their own...... is this possible?
Members can also add photos anywhere they want to as you can see by the attachment, there is a photo that is not even in a gallery..... how can this be prevented?
Thank you

Registered users in my G3 have no special rights. They cannot add photos/albums... nothing. They can however view items/albums restricted to registered users.
How are you adding these new users?
Are they getting added to the admin group?

that may have been it....but that leads me to another question....sorry.
When logged in as a guest... ( see first attachment ) I am not able to view the album that we want our members to upload to. the gallery has permissions set to the following... See attachment for this as well. We want registered members to be able to add images to this gallery but they obviously must be able to see it to add an image..... are my permissions wrong?
Thank you very much

I think I figured out why,.,, This use is in the "everybody" group and not the registered users group. I have been looking for a way to move this member to the registered users group but i can not find a way... Can you show me how to do this?
thanks

Guest user is any old joe shmoe, you would not want them to see the upload album.
Once a registered user uploads a photo to the upload album and you approve it, don't you move it to a public album?

Hi again....
I am very confused. YOu said that "Registered users in my G3 have no special rights. They cannot add photos/albums... nothing. They can however view items/albums restricted to registered users." I signed in as a registered user.... see attachment... How was i able to post a picture?
Thank you

that is the default behavior you must have changed some permissions.

Yes that is the idea to move the images in the upload album to the correct album that people can see.
I dont want anyone to be able to see the upload album but there is no way to do that... I want them t be able to ADD images to it so we can approve them and move the mot the correct album but there is no way to do that... it seems that I can either allow people to see the Upload album and photos or they cant see them... the issue is when they can NOT see this album... they can not upload images to it.... this is where I am stuck.....

I think I found the problem for this... Thanks ...
nope that did not work.... what happens is I edit the permissions to not allow images to be added but those permissions are gor the "Gallery" as a whole and not the album but I am editing the permissions in the album and dont know hot to fix this... see attachments
Notice the album name is missing in one of those attachments.... this is the problem... Do you know how to fix it?

In image 5 you are not editing the album that you have circled in green.

Will need specific names of albums and users that you want to duplicate this and we will try to duplicate.
Then you can test.
You have to remember the that "gallery" is the default name, that you can change, for the root album. The root albums is just like any other album.

basically we want users to be able to add pictures to ONLY that first album. However currently they also seem to be able to add/create albums too... not sure how to turn that off.
thank you so much

show that this is the root album. You have left the root album called Gallery. Notice the breadbrumb in the permissions dialog, it show the album that you are editing is Gallery.
The edit permissions dialog has breadcrumbs and will show the name of the album you are setting permissions for as well as links to the parent album.
Glad you got it all sorted out.
Dave
