Upgrade from 3.0.3 to 3.0.4 ok but albums & pictures have no images

Pics link up via wordpress (smoothgallery)but no images in the gallery, new images uploaded upload ok but are not visible, restored sql database, no change...

please help

You need to figure out why

and
http://www.cretancatalist.org/cal/var/thumbs/Rescued-Cats-2012/.album.jpg
returns a 404 page not found.
A good host should be able to assist if you need more info.
Perhaps some rewrite rule or something in the .htaccess was changed?

thanks floridave, they say that ' its duplicating the url in the path', but not too sure what they mean, also 'i changed the folder to calold then reinstalled in a new cal folder to keep the original path, would that have messed it up?

would be grateful for any pointers

i think its probably that i moved the gallery from another site and set up a redirect via the index.php and also from the albums, i went into the old site and removed the urls on the albums but i think this info got carried over via the sql? I have rescued the pictures but the stories are untold without the text that went with them, can i retrieve the text? i cant find it anywhere except on the old site which is missing 3 months of data (as i moved to a different host)
When i view the new gallery albums there is no url option, i think that was an addon somewhere... maybe i need to add it on again and see if i need to switch the redirects of???

I fail to see how browsing to http://www.cretancatalist.org/cal/var/resizes/Rescued-Cats-2012/IMG_6592.JPG returns a 404 and is some 'redirect via the index.php'. It is right there on the file system (did you confirm?) and there is nothing in gallery that delivers that, unless some .htaccess rule is in play. Apache delivers that file not gallery.

So you have a test install that works on the new server?
If so why not point it to the old DB and see if that works. You just need to edit /gallery3/var/database.php to point it to the original DB.

Thanks for all your advice Dave, i took the easy route out of this eventually, as i had a relatively new working install on another host i used that to update a new install on the current host and it all appears to be working as it should. Twaz an interesting learning experience!
