I installed Grey Dragon and to my amazement, it worked as I a truely a novice to building my own web site and certainly not a programmer. Then again, it may be because I was watching GWTDTattoo...who knows.

Anyway, I installed it and played around. RIght after the install I opened and album, clicked on a picture and then clicked on it again and I believe on the third click it opened in another window and became even larger....which was great as I was disappointed with how small the larger picture was with the standard theme.

So then I started playing around with all the options and changed frames and colors and a few other things. Then the pictures no longer got as big as they were. They also did not open in another window. If I remember correctly, all the largest pictures opened up in the same external window. This was great because then I could compare pictures easily without many pictures in between (comparing people in pictures).

So I started unchanging what I thought I changed and am back to what I think are default settings. Short of re-installing, does anyone know what I might have clicked in options...or what I can click in options to get that larger picture in its own window?

Also, I am trying to put my own logo on. I had written "this is header text" in the header text field to see where it shows up. Then I saw the place for the alternative Logo. so I put the path in lib/images/my_logo.png, took out the header text and what shows up where I thought the logo wold be is;

Gallery logo; Your photos on your web site

Trying to figure out what I need to do here as well.

I appreciate and pointers you all may offer.

Thanks,
JIm

And the resolution was? It might benefit others that might find your post when searching. Perhaps the docs need some better explanation? Suggestions?

Sure. Apparently in the directions it says you have to edit the code to make more space...and to use an image 300x70, I think it was. Not knowing how to make more space, and seeing that, I believe that instruction was written in 2009, I just decided to try to use a large image thinking that a work around had been built in by now. So I used the same size logo I use on my WP site about 800x100 pxls. It worked. However, it only worked when I first started Gallery 3. When I went into an album or anything the logo would disappear and the alt text, mentioned above, would show up. In that I loaded Gallery 3 in the root directory of my site because I wanted it to start when I typed in the site name, the lib/images/mylogo.png path would not work once I left the root directory. I figured I needed to put in the entire path, including the url, for Gallery 3 to find the image. So now it works.

As far as the larger picture when you click the image after the thumbnail, it is working as I set system defaults back to original in Grey Dragon. However, it doesn't seem to work on all pictures and I haven't quite figured out why. And, you have to close the window that the picture opened in if you want to open up a bigger picture when you view another image. If the next window is already opened, a new one will not open. I haven't yet figured that all out. I need to have the pics as large as possible for identification purposes.

Back to the logo for a second...the logo looks fine if you are not logged in as an admin because the menu intrudes on the logo. I moved the menu to the three positions possible and decided on top is best but it covers the top sixth, or so, of the logo. I tried a few thing changing the width of the logo to force it down but nothing worked well for both admin and non-admin viewing. I wish I could just make the entire page move down about 20 pixels. I think I noticed that the g-header 's position is "relative" but I don't know if that is what I change or not and I don't know the other choices are. It doesn't bother me, at this point, that much, as I am the only one that is going to see it.

I did have to make the logo about 60 pixels shorter as it was interfering with the search box on the right when on the iPhone and iPad. No big deal...just couldn't figure how to move or eliminate the search.

That's all for now.

Thanks.

I searched for the word 'space' in the docs and did not find any.

So the suggestion from the question the docs:

Quote:
It is a good idea to use absolute paths,

did not make sense?

Lets hope that some community members that use the theme can follow your suggestions to make the docs better for uses to understand what you needed to do.

Specific suggestions for improving the community contributed documentation might have been a bit easier.

Glad you got it sorted.

Not sure what you are saying. I said it was resolved and you asked me how I resolved it. So I told you.
