Possiblity to mark one photo as an alternative of another photo

Hi,

I am looking for a way to mark a photo as an alternative of another photo. For example, there are 3 photos of the same motiv, photo A, B and C. I like Version B the most, but I do not want to delete version A and C. Now I'd like to mark photo A and photo C as alternatives of photo B.
The result of this should be that in the normal view of the album, only photo B is shown. In the detail view of photo B there is a hint that there are alternatives to this photo with links to these photos.

I searched for a way how to do this but so far I couldn't find anything.

Is there any way to do this with gallery3? Any module which provides a similar functionality?
