[SOLVED] Move Gallery Installation to New Folder on Same Server

Greetings,

I have searched the forums and read over the documentation but was unable to find an answer for my particular question. I may not have been searching using the correct term(s) or phrase so if the solution exists feel free to point me in that direction with a light scolding. :)

When I originally installed Gallery (thank you so much for rescuing me from Coppermine) I installed it in the root of the public_html directory instead of in its own folder: /public_html/allofthegalleryfilesandfolders instead of /public_html/gallery3

Whether this was due to lack of attention or mental slowness on my part is unknown but it makes the upgrade process significantly more complex.

What I would like to accomplish is to create a new 'gallery3' folder in the public_html directory, move the existing installation to that folder, and then run the upgrade as the folks who wrote this software intended. The move part should be fairly easy, but I can't find anywhere in the management console that shows where to redirect to the new folder. Is there an easy-ish way to accomplish this without resorting to a full reinstall? Would I just make the move, change the target of the site in cPanel and restart MySQL? I'm just not sure as to the best way to proceed.

Thank you in advance for any tips or tricks you might offer.

Regards

Create the new gallery3 directory.
Move the files from the root album to the gallery3 directory. No configuration needed.

It's that easy, eh?

I will give it a shot ASAP and report back.

Thank you very much for the reply.

If it doesn't work after the move, also check the RewriteBase in the htaccess file.

Well, I moved all of the files into the new Gallery3 directory, but am getting an Index of / page. I did edit the htaccess file and changed the RewriteBase to point to the new folder. Same result.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Just to make sure that we're on the same page:
- You moved Gallery to a folder that is at http://yourwebsite.com/gallery3
- You changed the Gallery RewriteBase to /gallery3
- You go to http://yourwebsite.com/gallery3 and you get an index of page?

If you're going to http://yourwebsite.com, you will get the index of page because there's nothing there now.

Thank you for the reply.

I fat-fingered the RewriteBase entry in the htaccss file. Fixed my glitch and the site shows up at http://mywebsite/Gallery3, so that is working. Sorry for the confusion and thank you both very much for your assistance.
