Upgrade to 3.03 and /upgrader doesn't work

I currently have 3.02 installed and I am trying to upgrade to 3.03 to eventually get to the newest version. However, after I have moved all the files and modules to the new 3.03 directory and try to go to http://localhost/gallery/index.php/upgrader it doesn't do anything but take me back to my login page. What am I doing wrong?

I'm hoping this is a stupid question, but have you logged in? It will take you to the login page if not.

Oh....oops

Ok I have now logged in tried again and it took me to the upgrade page. I clicked the upgrade all button and it didn't really do anything. Except now the url at the top says this now. http://localhost/gallery/index.php/upgrader?failed= does that mean it failed?

when I log in now it says "The album 'Gallery' is not writable."
