No pictures in new albums after upgrade

I have just upgraded to version 2.3.2. All appeared OK but when I add a new album all I can view of the album is the thumbnails. When I click to open the "full-size" picture I get the message - HTTP error 500 (internal server error).

The pictures are all present correctly in their directory and have been uploaded both by the "from web browser" tab and the "upload applet" tab. The only apparent problem during the upload is that the subsequent page "Processing items" sticks and does not return to the album as is normally the case.

I have re-checked through the upgrade page as far as stage 3 and all the files are reported as OK. There are two warnings but these are stated as not causing any problems.

All the albums that were previously added to the Gallery (pre upgrade) still work correctly in all respects but I have not tried to add a picture to any of them to see what happens.

Do I just re-run the upgrade program through to the end or is there a configuration file that needs editing? I want to avoid losing all the existing albums if possible.

Try to open any of the four pictures and you will see the server error mentioned previously.

Thanks for the guidance. I reset the permissions to the most liberal positions and, since it was mentioned, also cleared out the caches. This made no difference so the permissions were set back to the original, which is what they have been ever since I started using Gallery.

Further investigation proved the following

1. I have three different Galleries installed; it is possible to create a new album and upload this particular set of photos to the other two installations without any problems.
2. If I resize the pictures slightly (I actually use the "Paint.NET" program), thus forcing a re-sampling, then they upload and view correctly even though the file size remains about the same.
3. If I set the camera to a different image size (in this case 4000 x 3000 instead of the camera's maximum of 4608 x 3456) then the smaller images upload and view correctly.

CONCLUSION. This particular installation of Gallery does not like this camera (Nikon S6200) when operating at full resolution.

I have now devised a work-around to the problem (2. above) and the slight reduction in picture size still provides adequate resolution when pictures are downloaded for printing in the local club magazine but it would be useful to know where the basic problem lies.
