Upgrade problem stops at step 2 after authenicating

I moved all the files to the 2.2.6 to the gallery 2 directory on my server over the 2.2.2 instantiation. When I begin the upgrade it stops after I enter my password for authorization returning to step 1. I get the error message:

Is there anyway that I can correct this or should I roll back to the original installation and try other ways to fix my problem with uploading images?
