How does the ajax and javascript work for theming?

Hello

I have written a theme from scrath. It is on this adress http://tromsfoto.net but I dont get the JS and ajax code to work. I cant find any documentation for theming without the use of the JS and ajax code.

Could you please direct me in the right direction as to where I would have to begin to get the popups working and the other js code working? I just copied the include list from the wind template, but that did not work for the dialogs for example.

If it where possible I would create the template without ajax and js, but I cant find any documentation for that.
