For the record, I am using the User Registration module, reCAPTCHA, and the Grey Dragon Wide Wind theme.
When a new user registers, there is no place in the registration form to choose a password. An activation link is sent to the new user. When they click that, they are logged in. The problem is that they are never given a password. They can't change their password because they don't have an existing one. Leaving that blank and choosing a new password also does not work.
This site needs to launch tomorrow. It's a big deal and going to get lots of press. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated!!

First lets see if it is a theme issue, does it work with the wind theme?

You're right! Of all the things I tried, that was the one thing I didn't try. Suggestions (besides swapping themes)?

Debug the theme.
Try the Grey Dragon theme first then we can most likely make it wide if it works.

Even easier... I downloaded the widewind theme and just made it look like how I wanted. I wish most of the controls were in CSS and not in various PHP files, but I got it sorted eventually.
I was under a time constraint to get this working. I didn't really have time to debug and figure things out. This is going to be a pretty big deal when it launches (Monday). I had to have it ready for approval today. I was sweating the last few hours!

I'm also using the User Registration module and reCAPTCHA with the default theme and have this same problem. I changed themes, but it didn't help. How do I debug a theme?
