upgrading 1.4.4 to 2.x

I’m a big fan of the gallery software. I use it to host my mom’s photo album. She loves it!

I’m running a rather out of date version 1.4.4.

I see in the FAQ instructions to upgrade from 2.x to 3.x. How can I upgrade 1.x to 2.x?

Is there a doc you can point me to for upgrading such an old version?

Mainly it’s security I’m worried about, but I wouldn’t mind seeing the new features too!
